whats a good Dog Breed when children live in the house?

i have a 2 year old child. i would like to Get A Dog. i like bigger dogs. i want one that is friendly, since we are in the army we have people over all the time and most have children. but, i would also would like a dog that wouldnt let anything happen to us.

2yo children are far too young to know how to behave around a dog. They hurt dogs because they haven’t learned to be gentle. When the dog retaliates due to the pain the child inflicted, it’s the dog who pays the price.

Wait until your child is old enough to be taught how to treat dogs. It’s not fair to any dog to expect it to put up with a toddler pulling its tail, poking it in the eyes, pulling its ears or hitting it.

If there are always children over, a dog must never be with children except under adult supervision. Your social life with your visitors and their children will not be much fun because you will need to watch the kids and dog at all times. You are responsible for all of children in your home when you have a dog, not just your own child.

There was a large breed of dog who had always been great with children. It snapped at a toddler one day and the parents immediately had it put to sleep. After the dog was killed it was found the kid had poked a pencil right down inside the dogs ear. This is a true story.

I will not adopt out my Rescue Dogs to anyone who has children under 5 years of age.
